50 Years!

Happy Saturday everyone!

A few day's ago my Mom called and ask me if

I could make her a card for her friends and neighbors

"50th Wedding Anniversary".

Since I know the happy couple since my childhood,

I was more then happy to do so.

 I decided to do an easel card.

 Added punched flowers and gold embellishments.

 The number 50 is actually a sticker I found at 

WalMart.

 The two hearts were stamped with Stampin'Up!

"You are Loved" stamp set.

I used my VersaMark stamp pad and then embossed

with gold detail embossing powder.

I did the same on the sentiment.

WOW, 50 year, what an accomplishment!

I'm so happy for them and

really hope they will like the card.

Mom also needed some labels to put on some vine bottles.

Yes, you guessed right a special 

"Golden Wedding Anniversary" vine.

This is the first time I used Avery's website 

www.avery.com

to make labels and I have to say I liked it.

I fell in love with a golden vintage frame, 

I thought it fit the occasion perfectly.

Well, card and labels went in the mail today,

keep the fingers crossed they will make it 

undamaged across the big pond.

Pebbles and Shells!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and

 a great start to the week!

I took some time this weekend and tried to salvage what's 

left of my yard and flower beds.

The much cooler temperatures made yard work a breeze 

and I was done in no time.

Maybe that there was hardly anything left 

but cutting down dead stuff sped things up quiet a bit.

Even so Fall is definitely in the air I'm not ready

to let Summer go!

I bought this wooden $1.00 frame a wile back

and deco-paged it with old book pages,

but then I got stuck and it was put aside...

... to this weekend, when I came across a very old

children's book called "Pebbles and Shells". 

 Loved the illustrations in the book.

I also reused some of the text on the frame

and stamped some birds on it.

 This is my mom and me on vacation on the seashore.

Well, what do you think?

Not to bad for my first altered photo frame?!

But I definitely need to get into the fall mode,

well, maybe next week ;)

A lucky little trade!

Have you ever seen an idea and can't let it go?

Do you just have to go out, search and search for that specific item, to you find it?

For the last week I have been on the search for an old window.

Not just any window, it had to be an old wooden window.

While strolling through town the other day, 

I seen an old window used as display in a photo studio.

What a neat idea I thought

and the treasure hunt began!

I mentioned my little mission at work and

"JACKPOT"

I couldn't believe it 

my wonderful co-worker still had an old window 

from an old house in her attic and 

was more then happy to give it to me...

...for FREE!

I hated not to give her something.

So I traded her some of my cards,

 including the one I made this week,

 for the sweet little window.

I love the little crown on the bird, 

a perfect spot to add some rhinestones.

The stamp is "Bird Post" by Stampendous.

Of course I had to wrap the cards up pretty.

I closed the bag with a flower paperclip she can use as a bookmark later.

She loved her cards and baggy

and I adore my old window.

What a lucky little trade!

A Blooming Birthday!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful long

Labor Day Weekend!

We are still waiting for the promised rain,

leftovers from Isaac, but so far nothing.

I know it's bad timing for rain, especially over a long holiday weekend,

but we really need it, so I won't complain.

And I don't feel so guilty being inside and playing with my stamps!

This is a Birthday Card I made for my Uncle in Germany this week.

He loves working in his yard, 

so I reused the seed pack idea again.

 The background panel was stamped with Tim Holtz's Heartfelt stamp set

and then dry embossed with Stampin'up! - Sizzix Square Lattice embossing folder.

After adding all the layers to the card you really can't see the background stamping anymore.

I might have to rethink that part!

 I found this adorable origami butterfly on Karen Bailey's wonderful blog

 Look under her free tutorials, she has awesome stuff

and best of all very easy to follow instructions!

My butterfly is folded out of a 2'x2' old book page.

I used on my seed pack.

Now I have to wait to Tuesday to get it in the mail!

Fiber fever!

As fall is approaching and cooler temperatures are setting in

 I'm slowly getting back to my other passion's

knitting and crocheting.

A little while ago a friend told me about a little fiber store named

"Blueball Mountain Spindle & Needleworks"

just down the road from were I live.

So today I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop in.

 WOW, just like the little yarn stores in Germany.

 Look at all the gorgeous colors and yarns,

don't you just wand to dive in.

I had a very hard time to make up my mind what to buy.

 More natural fibers for dying.

 Ah, I could have spend hours there, 

squeezing and feeling all the wonderful balls of yarn.

Yep, I'm a fiber squeezer, 

every time I go through a yarn isle I just have to squeeze them.

Just can't help myself.

Well, after circling several times I bought this wonderful 

green and gray silk yarn.

Both will make wonderful lacy scarfs!

So if you ever in or around Elizabethtown, Kentucky stop in the

Bloom!

Hi everyone, hope you all are having a great weekend!

Mine started with my guys going to the friday night High School Varsity football game, 

and me having the house all to my self.

"I Love Friday Night Football"

and now you all know why!

Then we continued with our son playing, saturday morning, with his freshman team.

Well, sadly both teams lost :(

Home now and enjoying the rest of the weekend!

I have been working on this flowerpot pen holder this week

and finally got it finished last night to were I liked it.

I brought it home from my desk at work to give it an overhaul.

A few weeks ago it fell of my desk and brook into millions of pieces.

I replaced the terra-cotta pot with one which was partially painted (ugly) blue.

After looking at the ugly pot long enough

I decided ...

... to add a little "Bloom" pick to the pot.

I sewed two pieces of brown paper together to make them look like a little

brown seed bag, stamped and added some embellishments...

 ... the ugly blue was covered up with old book pages (deco-paged) 

and

for the rim I crocheted a little cozy in a single crochet stitch pattern.

I did not attach the cozy permanently, I thought if I ever wanted to change 

the color, it will slips right off, to be replaced by another one.

What do you think?

Sorry I forgot to take before and after pictures,

I need to get better at this.

Crazy week and a bit of recycling!

Oh, what a crazy week!

Open House, school shopping with a Freshman, Football and OH there is my full time job...

... not much creativity going on in the stamp room and sorry,

 the blog did not get much attention this week either.

BUT...

School started back on Thursday, HURRAY, so maybe our life gets back into a routine.

Back to school also means ...

 ... yes the start of my favorite season

"Football Season" 

 and

... yes, we are officially back on the road again.

 Our first away game, just a practice game, 

but it was fun to watch.

 The boys did good and scored a few points.

 Found this old tire rim on the sideline and 

had to take a picture. I thought it looked to cool.

Well the week was not all wasted, 

I had a little time to decorate an old mini note book and a small spice container.

 Since the note book was so small I just used scraps

of odds and end I had laying around.

 I covered the ugly red cover with cart-stock and stamped it with

Stampin'Up! "Delicate Doilies for a little background effect.

 And I had to add one of my crocheted flowers.

 The same with the little container,

all leftovers from old projects.

Since the items were so small, it took me no time to put together.

Well, I think my little recycling project turned out quiet nice!
