Louisiana

Finally,
SUMMER VACATION.
We were so ready to get a few days out of town.
For quiet a few years we had planned to visit the
Mandeville Seafood Festival at Fontainebleau Park,
St. Tammany Parish, in my husbands home state Louisiana,
but never made it to now.
Telling you the truth, I try to avoid going home to Louisiana
in the summer month,
to hot and humid for this German girl.
Ha, what better year to pick, with temps in the triple digits
in Kentucky, this was almost a trip into a cooler climate.
 Great variety of southern seafood...
... including, yes, GATOR on a stick!
And if you look closely, there is squid in the gumbo.
It was by far the best fair food I had in a very long time.
...and don't forget the crafts vendors.
What fascinates me the most down south are the
Spanish moss covered trees.
 So pretty!
Fontainebleau Park is the site of an old Plantation
and sugar mill.
Sadly there is not much left of both, but the park is still
a great place to visit.
